Today we be looking at Ancient Roman Clothing.

Here is a foot from a statue displaying a Roman Sandal, from the Early Imperial, Augustan, From 31 B.C.–A.D. 14. The tongue of the sandal is decorated with a personification of the Nile. Shoes or sandals were a status symbol in Ancient Rome.

Here is a statue of a man wearing a tunic over a Roman Toga from 1st Century AD. The toga was one of the most characteristic roman dresses. Men would sometimes wear an undershirt under the toga or as displayed a tunic over top. The tunic length would go down the the arms, and was often worn by both sexes. The toga was the supreme status symbol.

Here are Roman Gold Bead ornaments, from 3rd century A.D. These triangular bead would be worn from a crown, and were decorated with geometric patterns to match gold foil that were sewn onto the sleeves and neckline of festive clothing. As Roman culture progress they became more elaborate with their jewelry.
